DCT GA 300 offers top performance with regards to thermal insulation, maintaining this characteristic under extreme conditions of compression, humidity and temperature. The exceptional compressive strength enables it to easily resist several tons/m² downward pressure.

The closed cell structure of DCT GA 300 XPS foam makes water absorption almost non-existent and provides a high resistance to vapour transmission. The specially designed tongue and grooved edge profile facilitates rapid and robust installation.

DCT GA 250 CO2 insulation boards are delivered shrinkwrapped. DCT GA 250 CO2 is light, rigid and clean and pleasant to handle and install. It is easily cut to size or trimmed using a knife or saw.DCT GA 250 CO2 should be stored flat in a ventilated area and protected from accidental damage, contact with volatile solvents, flames and extended exposure to UV and sunlight.

Styrofoam HD-X

Details

In cold stores the proper design of the floor system is critical to avoid the bending and cracking problems which can occur in inadequately designed low temperature floor systems. Floor designs must be able to withstand the high floor loadings present in low temperature facilities.

The typical low temperature floor design has not changed for many years. The insulation is laid in multiple layers on a vapour retarder either over a sub-slab or directly over the soil. Reinforcement and slip sheets are positioned where necessary and the concrete for the wearing slab is poured directly onto the insulation.

After the wearing slab has cured, it must be able to support the live and dead loads imposed by any moving equipment, storage racks and stored materials. As design loads increase, the insulation plays a more important role in providing support for the wearing slab.

Thanks to an extremely high compressive strength-to-weight ratio, exceptional moisture resistance, low thermal conductivity and long-term performance of Styrofoam™ HD-X extruded polystyrene (XPS) rigid thermal insulation distributed by DCTech, makes it the ideal solution for cold storefloor applications.

When used in cold storefloor panels, Styrofoam™ HD-X XPS insulation will support heavy cargo loads and the dynamic loads of fork lift trucks. When used in walls it absorbs high dynamic loads, such as those caused by wind and vibration. When used in roof panels Styrofoam™ HD-X XPS insulation will support high tensile loads from suspended items.

The homogeneous closed-cell structure ensures that Styrofoam™ HD-X XPS rigid insulation retains its performance even when in permanent contact with moisture. This exceptionally stable material will retain its initial insulation performance and physical integrity in exposed conditions over the very long term. It is this unusual property that made possible the inverted warm roof concept, pioneered by Dow.

DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips

Details

DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips distributed by DCTech are made from a high compressive strength 300 kPa Styrofoam™ extruded polystyrene (XPS) rigid thermal insulation board. DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips are designed specifically to reduce the thermal loss on metal deck roof applications.

Depending upon the construction method, in some metal deck roof construction, the insulation blanket can be compressed which can reduce the thermal performance of the roof system. The use of DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips on top of each purlin above the insulation blanket will ensure that sufficient room is allowed for the insulation blanket to recover to its nominal thickness and that stated R-Values are achieved.

The Styrofoam™ rigid thermal insulation strips are a closed cell structure meaning that they won’t absorb moisture thus retaining their high thermal performance.

Testing has been conducted by the majority of the manufacturers of roofing systems throughout Australia and the addition of DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips will not affect the warranties of these manufacturers.

DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips are specifically designed with a high compressive strength and do not absorb moisture which tests have shown to be vital for this application.

Insulated Concrete Sandwich Panels

Details

Concrete is a strong and highly durable material and a good choice in both commercial and multistory residential applications. However, concrete panel walls can absorb moisture from rain and vapour drive. Condensation buildup can reduce the effectiveness of the insulation and may cause other problems, including mould and mildew.

Insulated concrete sandwich panels combine the strength and durability of concrete with the unmatched insulating capabilities of Styrofoam™ extruded polystyrene. Styrofoam’s closed cell, moisture resistant structure provides dependable and predictable performance, even under the harsh conditions of freeze-thaw cycling. Styrofoam™ has no facings that are susceptible to corrosion, delamination or chemical reaction with the concrete.

Assembly

To form concrete sandwich panels, concrete is poured on both sides of the Styrofoam™ and the composite is held together structurally with connectors that can be pushed through the foam. Concrete panels provide thermal mass, which can store considerable amounts of thermal energy.

Buildings that incorporate Styrofoam™ insulated concrete sandwich panels will perform more efficiently over time because of the Styrofoam’s superior long-term thermal performance and unparalleled moisture control qualities.

The rigid Styrofoam™ insulation isolates the thermal mass provided by the concrete panels, minimising building interior temperature fluctuations under outside temperature swings.

The closed cell structure of Styrofoam™ XPS enables it to resits all forms of water and moisture penetration. Styrofoam™ XPS is a thermoplastic and retreats from fire. It is chemically and physiologically inert, it creates no dust and will not support mould or mildew and is non allergenic. Styrofoam™ XPS is not a known food source to vermin or insects.

Cutting and Shaping

DCTech has a range of extruded polystyrene (XPS) foam which has been used with great success as a modelling foam for many years. Strong, lightweight and versatile – extruded polystyrene foam has been used for everything from competition grade surfboards to remote control vehicles, outdoor water features to model railway dioramas, architectural models and even triathlon racing bike frames.

Our range of XPS boards are lightweight with a high compressive strength rating. The unique closed-cell structure/cell shape of our XPS foam results in no voids between cells, the result of an exclusive extrusion process that assures uniform, predictable, stable physical properties.

Our range of XPS foam is a thermoplastic and retreats from fire. It also contains a flame retardant additive to inhibit accidental ignition from small fire sources eg., over-heated wires or welding sparks. The cell structure of our XPS foam enables it to resist all forms of water and moisture penetration.

Our XPS foam is chemically and physiologically inert, it creates no dust and will not support mould or mildew and is non-allergenic and is not a known food source to vermin or insects.

Cutting and Shaping
Due to the homogeneous cell structure and uniform density of our XPS foam, it can be cut accurately and to very close tolerances. It is easy to cut and shape with a range of tools including a hotwire cutter, serrated knife, hacksaw, floral knife or X-Acto knife. To cut a thick piece, or several sheets stacked together, try using an old electric knife. DCT can cut your board to your required thickness and/or length from $10 per board. Note that DCTech cannot cut your board into shapes.

Adhesives
For a fast, sure bond, use a low-temperature glue gun (using a non-solvent base such as an epoxy resin and/or polyurethane adhesive) which can be purchased from your local hardware store.

Painting
Extruded polystyrene can be painted with an acrylic craft and/or water based paint. Avoid using solvent based paints as these may damage the foam. Some spray paints are safe to use – read the label carefully to determine whether or not it is foam approved.

Condensation Statement

There are a large number of factors that need to be considered in assessing and managing condensation risk.
