LIGHTWEIGHT THERMALLY BROKEN STEEL FRAME WALL (PIR INTERNAL INSULATION)

DCT-W21-Build-Up-Image

A lightweight clad steel frame wall insulated by noncombustible DCT VulcanWool and a continuous XPS thermal break strip fixed between the cladding and the frame to form a drained and vented cavity. The frame and insulation are protected by a vapour permeable, air and water tight ProctorPassive sarking. The interior DCT PIR Silver insulation is mechanically fixed directly to the interior face of the frame and must be taped and sealed to form a continuous air and vapour control layer. As the thermal break strip and PIR insulation are both deemed combustible, this solution is never recommended for type A or B non-combustible wall construction.

ProctorPassive RS-IT

ProctorPassive Rainscreen (RS-IT) is a class 4 vapour permeable wall wrap for use in closed and open joint rain screen installations in vertical wall constructions behind ventilated facades with regularly spaced open joints no greater than 30mm wide accounting for no more than 30% open total surface area offering a combination of UV durability and high water holdout without compromising vapour permeability.

Wall wrap / roof sarking shall be ProctorPassive Rainscreen RS-IT (with integrated tape) UV resistant vapour permeable membrane, compliant to AS/NZS 4200.1:2017, secured directly to the outside of the framing in accordance with product user guide. AS4200.1:2017 Classifications: Light Duty; Water Barrier; Class 4 Vapour Permeable; AS1530.2 Flammability Index ≤ 5; Thickness ≤ 1.0mm; Air barrier; Non-conductive; Non-reflective; Vapour Permeance to ASTM E96(B) no less than 2.5μg/N.s; “Breather” perforated foil does not comply with this specification.

DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips are closed cell high compressive strength, low moisture absorption extruded polystyrene (XPS) strips that serve as thermal breaks in commercial and residential roof and wall applications.

DCT XPS Thermal Break Strips (TBS) are used to reduce the loss of thermal performance in metal framed wall and roof systems. In a roof applications these can reduce the loss of thermal performance resulting from the compression of fibrous insulation blanket over purlins. Colour: Light blue; Edge treatment: Butt edge; Compressive Strength: 300kpa – 700kpa (minimum); Water absorption: <0.3%; Length: [1250mm, 2500mm]; Width: [40mm, 50mm, 75mm} Thickness: [30mm, 40mm, 50mm, 75mm, 100mm, custom]

DCT VulcanWool is a non-combustible high density mineral rock fibre stonewool insulation for use as external grade insulation with water shedding characteristics, designed for use in ventilated rainscreen facades and other thermal and acoustic wall, roof, floor and ceiling applications in residential and commercial buildings.

DCT PIR Silver insulation is a general application thermoset PIR insulation board with two low emissivity foil facings, suited for use in non-exposed floor, roof, wall and ceiling applications in residential and commercial buildings.

The insulation shall be DCT PIR Silver […mm] polyisocyanurate (PIR) foam panel with minimum compressive strength of 120 kPa. DCT PIR Silver polyisocyanurate insulation board is manufactured under licence for DCTech.
